Popular Journal App Day One Updated With Inter-App Improvements And More
As if its going completely free in celebration of "5 Years of the App Store" weren't enough of a treat already, Day One has also received a notable update this week. Arriving just a few hours ago, the latest update to the popular journal app developed by Bloom Built brings a number of improvements. One of these improvements is the ability to open locations directly in Apple Maps or in Google Maps. In any journal entry with an attached location, tap the map preview to see the expanded map view. Then tap the new "Show in Maps" button at the upper right corner of the screen and select your preferred maps app between Apple's and Google's. Another improvement is the ability to quickly add the last photo taken (or the most recent photo in your camera roll) to a journal entry, a function popularized by Tweetbot. To do so, just tap the camera button in the edit screen and tap the "Last Photo Taken" button. First, you can now add or import .md and .txt files from other apps to Day one via "Open In…" And second, you can now attach image files from other apps straight to your Day One entires via "Open In…" The update on hand also fixes a bug that results in reminders getting removed. In addition, it drops support for iOS 5. Previously, the app was compatible with iDevices running iOS 5.1 or later. But now, it's compatible with iDevices running iOS 6.0 or later only. The new version of Day One is available now in the App Store. As mentioned, the app is currently free to download as part of Apple's App Store fifth anniversary blowout. Just a few days ago, the app's desktop edition, Day One for Mac, was updated with PDF export, printing, and other enhancements. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
