Major Pebble Update Arrives With An Appstore For The Smart Watch

February 3, 2014
As expected, a major update to the Pebble iOS app has just landed in the App Store. Version 2.0 ushers in Pebble’s own appstore, a centralized place for users of the wearable device to explore a number of different watchfaces and apps. According to Pebble, there are more than 1,000 apps and watchfaces currently in the store. The store is divided into six different categories – Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games. Pebble plans to actively curate the store to feature the best titles. For now, all content in the store is free. And since users can only have up to eight different items at one time on their smart watch, the Locker stores favorite apps and watchfaces for easy loading and unloading. Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, the Pebble app can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The line of watches starts at $149. It also includes the Pebble Steel, which officially hit the market last week, and will set you back $249. Both can be purchased on Pebble’s site now.
