Version 8.0 Of iCab Mobile Web Browser Boasts iOS 7 Redesign Plus New Features

March 29, 2014
The so-called "Internet Taxi for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad" has just pulled over at another major update. I am, of course, referring to iCab Mobile, which has just been updated to version 8.0. Version 8.0 of the popular Safari alternative features a totally new design for iOS 7 plus new features that require the latest major version of Apple's mobile operating system. There's support for background downloads via Background App Refresh. And there's support for Apple's 64-bit architecture, which is built into the iPhone 5s, the iPad Air, and the iPad mini with Retina display. Another new, iOS 7-compatible feature in iCab Mobile 8.0 is a built-in QR code scanner, allowing you to read QR codes right from the app. The newly updated app also supports QR code creation, enabling you to make QR codes for bookmarks, links, and more. Yet another iOS 7-optimized addition to iCab Mobile is Bluetooth keyboard support, providing easy keyboard controls for the app (go back/forward, switch tabs, open bookmarks, scroll, change settings, and more). The new version of iCab Mobile also notably features support for multiple users. "If you share an iPad with your partner or the whole family, or if you just want to keep the professional and private Web surfing separate," iCab Mobile developer Alexander Clauss notes, "the multiuser support will be the solution." Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later, iCab Mobile 8.0 is available now as a free update or as a new $1.99 download. The app is featured in AppAdvice’s Best Web Browsers for the iPhone and iPad Web Browsers AppGuides. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
