Watch out for the App Store comeback of Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace

December 26, 2014

Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace, the acclaimed arcade space shooter developed by Philipp Seifried and published by BulkyPix, is no longer on the App Store. But iOS gamers with “any fancy for arcade games, science-fiction adventures, and an ’80s cartoon experience” need not worry: the game, which was hailed as an AppAdvice Game of the Week following its release in August, is set to strike back soon.

Seifried tells AppAdvice that the sudden disappearance of the game has to do with its disengagement from the Bulkypix publishing house:

I have recently ended my publishing deal with Bulkypix, and I’m self-publishing the game from here on out. Unfortunately they couldn’t transfer the app to my developer account (apps can’t be transferred if they use iCloud), so I needed to take it out of the store and get Apple to re-approve it as a new app. This means that all players who previously bought the game need to repurchase it.

To address this problem, Seifried has decided to offer the game for free upon its rerelease on the App Store, allowing old and new players alike to download it at no cost.

Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace will be relaunched and made available free of charge on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 (or at least until right after the iTunes Connect holiday shutdown). Make sure to grab it for free before it reverts to its regular price of $2.99 on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.

It’s worth noting that with its rerelease, Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace is set to be updated with new features, including different types of missiles for different ships, a new “hard-to-the-max” difficulty mode, and new UI layouts optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

As before, Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace will be compatible with iPhone 4S, fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad 2, and newer devices.
