A Facebook App for Apple TV is Coming 'Soon' Focusing on Video
Facebook is headed to an even bigger screen. The social networking giant has confirmed that a free Facebook app for Apple TV will arrive “soon.”
Revolving around video
You can now watch some videos while browsing the News Feed .
First rumored earlier this month, Facebook’s Vice President of Partnerships Dan Rose announced the app at the Code Media Conference in California.
As previously reported, the app will mainly revolve around video and not be another way for users to check their News Feed. It will provide recommended videos for users or allow anyone to watch videos they’ve saved later on other devices.
A Facebook spokesperson told Recode that the won’t include any ads “at this time.” But don’t expect that to last for long, especially if the app becomes popular.
At the conference, Facebook also announced other new updates to its popular iOS app.
Unfortunately, as long as your iOS device isn’t muted, autoplay videos in the News Feed will play with the sound on. The annoying feature can be disabled in the app’s settings. I’m sure I won’t be the only one doing that.
With a picture-in-picture feature you can watch videos while browsing a News Feed. Finally, vertical video is rolling out vertical video viewing to all iOS users.
The Facebook app is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models and can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
