App Store Description

Continental Divide Trail is the official smartphone navigational guide of the Continental Divide Trail Coalition for your hike on the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. This app was formerly known as "CDT Hiker: Guthook's Guide."

This is a detailed, map-based navigational guide that uses your device's built-in GPS to guide you along the trail. NO MOBILE PHONE OR INTERNET SERVICE IS REQUIRED to use this app. There are more than 20 alternate routes plus 3,800+ waypoints, including comprehensive water source information.

The free section includes portions of the two routes from the Mexico-U.S. border: the Crazy Cook route to Lordsburg, and the Columbus Gila route to Deming. The remainder of the trail is available for purchase by state: New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho/S. Montana (to Johnson Lake) and N. Montana.

Each of the 3,800 waypoints includes a detail page, providing further details about that particular waypoint. Details include the waypoint's mileage point and elevation, photographs of many of the waypoints, distance to the next water source, a Comments section where you may post comments and read other users' comments, and other details that will help you during your hike, and help you plan your hike.

The types of waypoints include:

-->Water sources
-->Junctions to towns and services
-->Trail junctions
-->Parking areas along the trail
-->Roads, railroad tracks, power lines, fences, gates
-->Other Landmarks

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
