The DAU App provides Defense Acquisition news, blogs, resources, class offerings, schedules, and directions using integrated maps, and augmented reality (AR) if within close proximity. The DAU App contains several modules that include:
Flash Briefing: The new Flash Briefing module offers a quick view of the latest updated information from DAU: the operating status of your campus, the important announcement, the next upcoming event, and the latest news and blogs, all in one screen.
News and Blogs: Use personalized on/off settings to receive new content notifications and select the DAU news, events, or career field blogs of your choice. The News module is currently limited to career fields that have a blog on their DAU functional gateways website. You can read and listen to news and blogs in airplane mode and using text-to-speech.
Defense Acquisition News: The new Defense Acquisition News module offers links to acquisition news articles pulled from many government, military, and commercial agencies and organizations.
Resources: Use personalized on/off settings to access the acquisition resources using a combination of online and offline access techniques. Receive new content notifications, read, and listen to ACQuipedia articles and Glossary definitions in airplane mode and using text-to-speech. Use native apps such as e-Pubs or Adobe to read the Defense Acquisition Guidebook (DAG) chapters. Watch DAU videos and podcasts using a Kaltura app in DAU media. You can use the settings in the app to select your preferred resources by using the on/off settings. Link directly to other acquisition resources, such as GAO reports, Acquisition policies, National Defense Strategy, Acquisition tools, and communities. Login using your DAU-ID.
Training: The Training module links to DAU training courses, DAWIA certification requirements, functional gateways, and other training content on the DAU iCatalog and DAU.edu websites.
Info: Student information, such as a listing of DAU classrooms, weekly class schedules, gate information, DAU operating status of locations and systems, contact information, DAU locations, student policies, and submit App Feedback are included. The classrooms and schedules are integrated with the maps and app search. The operating status is integrated with alert indicators to send push notification to your phone when the DAU.edu operating status has changed. Use the App Feedback or the Submit App Feedback button on the slide-out global navigation menu to recommend new features, resources, bugs, or other improvements directly to the DAU mobile team.
Maps: Using GPS and an overlay on Apple and Google maps provides assistance with driving and walking directions to all of the DAU campus locations. Use personalized on/off settings to select the DAU campus where your course is being held. The maps are integrated with DAU course schedules, class locations, and other points of interest to assist you while on campus. You can find relevant nearby points of interest, such as the Howell Auditorium, Hirsch Center, and George's Café, the Ft. Belvoir onsite cafeteria. On the Apple (iOS), using Apple search, you can find points of interest, such as restaurants and coffee. On the Fort Belvoir and San Diego campuses, if you are within 300 feet of a flagged location/building, you can use the integrated augmented reality (AR) maps, and your phone’s camera, to receive building information as you walk on DAU campuses.
Settings, Filters, Push Notifications, and Sync App Data On-Demand: Under settings, you can change on/off filters to personalize content delivery and receive notifications. Push notifications use your phone’s alert system. Use the Sync App Data On-Demand feature to synchronize data on your device to ensure you have the most current information.
The DAU App is approved by the DISA DoD Application Vetting Environment for use on government-issued mobile devices.
