This application is designed to give the user the ability to test the (in)genuinity of a QR code based on data validation.
We use a 2D printed code (QR-code or Data Matrix), which carries the original production, vendor information and most importantly, the personalized product identifier. From this information layered in the code, we are able to collect serial numbers to check against recorded material in a database.
If the identified serial number is listed in the database on a “white list”, this means the serial number is known and declared as genuine by the database owner. As such, we will confirm that the scanned code is indeed a genuine code.
If the serial number is not known or listed on a “gray list” or on a “black list” in the database, we will declare it as suspicious. When a serial number is tagged as suspicious, further investigation is recommended. It will be highly recommended to check the validity of another security element on the product packaging to verify suspicious serial numbers as genuine.
