Eloquence with an edge.
Three focus areas are highlighted in Eloquent X 'Nihongo':
Visual and aural learning, reinforced with flash cards. These focus areas provide written and spoken guidance into the fascinating world of Nihongo. Kanji cards are provided in groups of 25 (742 different Kanji) and in the order they appear in each exercise. The Kanji cards run on a Kanji flash card App (purchased separately) and offer an in-depth study of each Kanji character in each exercise.
Volume Matters.
For students of Nihongo who have studied and practiced grammar lessons and drills, yet still are not quite sure when to use “wa” and “ga”...the exercises in Eloquent X Nihongo provide volume, plus easy entry to in-depth aural and visual learning. The Eloquent X app then allows you to challenge your own ability easily and at your pace. You study “Verse Segments” to quickly learn a “Verse”. Then tie the “Verses” together whenever, wherever and with any number of verses you wish to challenge, as you expand the context in any part of an exercise. The exercises are conversational in order to focus on grammar useful for interacting with new friends. And the variety of conversation subjects exposes you to a wide variety of grammar techniques in varied situations.
Pronunciation is key - You CAN do it!
Nine exercises in Eloquent X ‘Nihongo’ ('Exercise 1' is free, 'Exercises 2 thru 9 are via in-app purchases) provide listening and reading practice designed to improve your pronunciation and grammar skills in the Japanese language. Listening and then reading aloud will improve your ability to understand Japanese conversations.
AURAL LEARNING
Audio sliced into segments, initially very small, then gradually longer. So you can catch each word, then gradually expand the context and relate all the words in each of the conversations.
VISUAL LEARNING
Text, corresponding to the audio tracks and the Kanji cards used in each lesson, in both Japanese (Kanji/Kana) and English. (Familiarity with Hiragana and Katakana are prerequisite.)
KANJI FLASH CARDS (see videos on the web page)
Flash cards are downloaded from www.eloquentx.com. However, they require a flash card app. Developers at Eloquent X recommend the brilliant and supremely educational app named, “Japanese” (look for the bright red square logo in the App Store) to run the flash cards. (The “Japanese” App is not affiliated with Eloquent X.)
Students first study and learn the Kanji characters, then study verse segments. All of the sentences in the 9 exercises are divided up into portions called, "Verses". The Verses themselves are also divided into two to five smaller portions called "Verse Segments", that contain a small number of syllables (verbal audio by native Japanese speakers) that can be grasped and understood quickly by the student. Verse segments are navigated and learned using the pink, orange and green colored buttons. Each of the pink, orange and green buttons have double-tap functions that provide additional capabilities in understanding and translating the segments of a single 'Verse'. Learning and tying together verse segments provides an in-depth introduction into Japanese sentence structure. The light blue, dark blue and purple colored buttons provide navigation at the 'Verse' level. At the verse level, pronunciation and translation are improving faster. Since Japanese sentence structure is so very different from English structure, grasping verses first, then connecting verses together to complete the sentences, then to form paragraphs, keeps the student challenged, without being overwhelmed. Linking the verses together is accomplished by using the 'Expand' text box and the 'Expand Play' button. Eloquent X automatically links verses, by increasing the integer in the "Expand" text box, as the student progresses through verses. Also, the student, at any time, can increase the number in the Expand text box, to expand the advantage.
