ExpSAFE Blast Calculator is a mobile application that has been developed to enable quick blast wave predictions associated with Dangerous Goods Class 1.1 and support Quantity-Distance reviews.    While there is a wide selection of military and commercial software applications to assist those involving in conducting explosion effects analysis, these tend to be complex and technical in nature.   Blast Calculator sacrifices complexity and a level of precision for simplicity and ease of use.   For this reason the application is not intended for safety critical analysis or formal decision making purposes (refer the disclaimer statement within the application).  An alternative is to use the USA Conventional Weapons Effects (CONWEP) computer model,

FEATURES
-          Determine the blast effective yield based on Net Explosive Quantity and the TNT equivalence assigned to the type of explosives being consideration.
 
-          Calculate the Blast Scaling Law value based on Effective Yield of explosives and the distance between the detonation and point of interest for Quality – Distance (Q-D) scenarios. 
 
-          Predict a range of blast wave characteristics such as overpressure and impulse, based on based on simplified mathematical formulas that assume the explosion is hemispherical.  Note the results do not take into account munition case, shape, or structures around the point of detonation.
