Find Me Safe

Find Me Safe is a simple to use just-in-case application designed to notify a contact of your location if you do not reset a pre-defined timer. I use it when mountain biking or running by myself since no one seems to notice when I am missing or overdue due to a fibula fracture in the forest. This app is also great in a lone worker or virtual escort setting. When no one else is around, you may find yourself in a situation where you are unable or too busy, such as a zombie battle, to communicate otherwise.

Upon the expiration of a timer, a pre-selected contact will receive an SMS message. The SMS will contain the user's GPS location embedded in a google maps URL for easy tracking. The user is notified to stop the countdown timer as it approaches expiry. If the timer is reset, no message will be sent. Additionally, Find Me Safe can automatically upload your coordinates during a timed activity, revealing your last location even if your phone is subsequently missing or inoperative. No manual upload required.

Please keep in mind that since this app uses the GPS receiver in a background process, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

This app is not designed to be used in a life safety application.
