App Store Description

Furigana Browser is a browser app that can display furigana (kana reading) of the kanji on websites written in Japanese.

It is said that you must know over 2000 characters in order to read a website in Japanese.
While children learn kanji at school little by little, that doesn't mean they learn all the kanji used by the websites they want to read.

Furigana are included in regular children's books so that children can read the furigana while learning the kanji.
However, most websites in Japanese don't have furigana, which is one of the difficulties children have when they read websites.

By displaying furigana of the kanji on a website displayed on an iPad, Furigana Browser aids children who are studying kanji to read websites and learn.

Also, it would be a big help with reading Japanese websites for those studying the Japanese language in other countries.

When you want to display furigana for a page you are viewing with iPad's Safari, change the "http://" in the URL to "furigana://", and touch go on the keyboard; Furigana Browser will load, and you can display the kana readings for the page you were viewing in Safari.
For example, for "http://www.yahoo.co.jp", you would change it to "furigana://www.yahoo.co.jp".

*Attention: Some sites may have broken layouts, or not display kana readings.
Furigana Browser displays the furigana in the app while reading the page source (HTML) at the same time. Because it is adding furigana to the original site, it may break the layout or fail to display properly.
In addition, it is unable to display furigana for kanji in images, or on websites with dynamic content through Javascript and the like.
