Come Journey to the Magical Celtic Islands of Ireland and Scotland!

EXPERIENCE ANOTHER WORLD! Join award-winning photographer Josef Tornick in an enchanting tour of the Aran Islands of Ireland, and the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, via over 80 stunningly beautiful fine-art Black and White Photographs.

The images of Ireland bring to you to places that deeply impress upon the spirit: the Holy Well of Inisheer; the ruins of little churches over a thousand years old; the endless miles of stone walls enclosing tiny plots of handmade pasture; the great banks of clouds illuminated by great flourishes of streaming, shifting light; the turbulent Atlantic Ocean encircling these islands; and the quietly dignified manner of the Gaelic-speaking villagers, who embody a world of timeless connection to the weather, the landscape, and tradition…

The photos of the remote Western Isles of Scotland depict sparse and ancient lands of rich and subtle beauty: cloud-wrapped mountains, lochs (lakes), long and empty beaches with machair (beach grass), extensive and unique wildlife, fierce winds, and moody, ever-changing weather.

The people in these photographs are proud of their heritage, and reserved, as were their ancestors; yet they kindly opened both their hearts and homes to this photographer, allowing me extraordinary access in recording their way of life. I hope that I have done them justice in recording their timeless “Tir a’Muhrain” (Land of Bent Grass), and “Arainn”, the Irish islands of Inisheer and Inishman — with photographs that illustrate and evoke the beauty of cultures deeply interwoven with memory, community and environment.

In a world that often seems chaotic and lost from its moorings, it is of immense value to have the opportunity to observe, reflect upon, and experience these traditional ways of life that all too often are lost, overlooked or devalued by contemporary culture.

May you also experience moments of this magic through this special and heart-felt photographic journey.

Magical Celtic Islands is based on the concept and design of Drainspotting Extras, by award-winning photographer and artist Remo Camerota of Whitewall Studios. Thanks to Remo for letting me use his ideas to create my own.
