App Store Description

MathJam is a flashcard-style, math facts practice app designed for speed and mastery of "fact families". "Fact families" is the concept that three (3) numbers, in an equation, represent a fact family that can be used to solve four distinct math problems.
For example: 3 x 4 = 12
With multiplication, 12 is the product of 3 and 4. So the student only needs to master this concept to solve: 3 x 4, 4 x 3, 12 ÷ 3, and 12 ÷ 4.
Each of these is simply a single missing number in a three number fact family. If you know two, you know the other.

Students can feel overwhelmed by how many addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts there are to learn until they recognize the links between them. In searching the AppStore for a math flash card app that addresses this strategy, I found none, so I built MathJam. Its also very important that using the application is as fast and intuitive as working with cardboard flashcards. Solving the problem should not be impeded by trying to operate the software. Four choices are given, for each problem, and are nice, big, "mashable" buttons that are easy to read. Correct answers respond with a quick acknowledgement of success, followed by a fast transition to the next card. Errors present red. One tap is all that is needed. You can play MathJam as fast as your brain can give you the answer so you'll be able to work on your edge and improve quickly.

So how do you know if its working? There is a timed practice feature that lets you select the number of minutes to practice and then reports your score. You can chart all your practice sessions and, over time, see the performance increase. Kids love seeing lines that demonstrate success! So do parents.

The app supports addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and can be restricted to any combination of the four operations. You can also choose what facts to work on and it defaults to 1 through 12.

I sincerely hope you enjoy MathJam. I built it for my own kid's education reinforcement and I think you'll find it quite fun and effective. You'll see updates, in the near future, designed to make it even more exciting and rewarding to play. Please send any feedback or ideas you may have so that I can incorporate these into future releases. Happy jamming!
