SecureVault is a fork of a fork of the well known open source password manager Bitwarden with an emphasis on security and privacy rather than convenience or user tracking.
We are a fork of bitwarden_rs, which is a fantastic rust fork of the original Bitwarden open source password manager which eliminated a lot of the privacy unfriendly backend services based on Microsoft.
We chose to fork Bitwarden because Kyle’s open source code is very clean and straightforward, but also because it has been well and truly audited by a reputable outfit like Cure 53. (https://blog.bitwarden.com/bitwarden-completes-third-party-security-audit-c1cc81b6d33)
We don’t use any closed source proprietary protocols anywhere in our infrastructure, neither client side nor in the backend. All your passwords are encrypted client side which means we only store useless encrypted blobs anyway.
There’s no Microsoft Azure storage or Google analytics in SecureVault. We store your passwords (encrypted client side) in an encrypted blob in our servers in Germany or Switzerland. No files touch the USA or UK.
We are proud to be a Swiss company and we believe our privacy laws are the best in the world.
2 Factor Authentication will soon become mandatory for all accounts. We already support hardware based keys like Yubikey and software based solution like Authy and Google Authenticator because 2FA is a must if you take security seriously.
Only You hold the master key that opens your vault. Without that key (which Privus has no knowledge of) your password vault can not be decrypted by anyone
