College Student Sells iPhone Application to Flixster

August 26, 2008

College student Jeffrey Grossman has sold his iPhone application, Movies.app, to Flixster for an undisclosed sum. Movies.app, the free iPhone application, has been downloaded over 250,000 times and helps connect movie-goers with the films they want to see. The latest iteration, Movies v1.5, debuted last night with a host of new features according to its iTune's page:
Movies v1.5 is a HUGE update with many new features and a great new design, including: 1. Expanded list of movies and theaters 2. Movie posters and descriptions for all movies 3. Trailers for all Box Office leaders and upcoming movies 4. Search of over 50,000 movies with posters, description, cast and directors 5. Support for Canada and UK 6 Completely new look (it's awesome!)
Flixster, a social networking site for movie buffs, will retain Grossman as a consultant while he continues his education, according to TechCrunch. You might remember our video review of Movies.app, or the pre-released screenies of v1.1 that Grossman was nice enough to share with us.
