Ever wished your life was important enough for a big screen movie adaptation? With the new iPhone app InAWorld...Drama from developer Optimum Drama, you can be on your way to personal stardom by creating your very own movie trailer straight from your iPhone.
InAWorld...Drama is a fun and creative little app that falls under the app-to-impress-your-non-iPhone friends category. It is a movie trailer creating tool that uses your personal photos, music from the app and the voice talent of Jonathan Cook to convey your story. If the name Jonathan Cook is unfamiliar to you, his voice will probably not since he's the famous voice for countless promos in movie and tv today.
InAWorld presents you with a script building wizard that offers tons of possible combinations. Choose from the available template choices and select pictures from your photo library to accompany the narration. After choosing the background music and selecting a title, the trailer is assembled and ready to view.
Because you're selecting from cliched movie trailer scenarios to build your script, the end result can be a little disjointed in a Mad Libs kind of way. But the effect is amusing nonetheless and can provide for a good chuckle to share with your friends.
While the idea is pretty creative and the app fun to play with, there is one complaint: sharing your finished product is a bit of a chore. Viewing your trailer will require your recipient has the InAWorld app or the free player (available on the App Store) installed to view it on their iPhone or iPod Touch. If the trailer was emailed to a computer, a desktop viewer is needed to play the video. For once, we don't see any integration with social networks. Sharing to Facebook or YouTube would have been ideal instead of requiring these proprietary video players.
Sharing issues aside, InAWorld is a fun app and if you're a fan of movies and want to show off another cool app for the iPhone, it's definitely worth a look.
