Insurrection 2035: Will You Be Ready?

June 11, 2010

If you're into location-based MMOs, then the soon to be released iPhone game, Insurrection 2035, will be right up your street. Here's what you need to know about the game itself: Insurrection, as a location-based game, is obviously driven by the position of each Insurrection gamer. When you launch Insurrection, your location is dropped on a map, and the location of every other user in your area (if there are any) is made available to you. Your aim in the game is to get within fifty yards of another gamer, and "tag" them in-game - which serves as reporting them to the police for arrest. A nervous looking Sam, from Paranoid Games (who have developed Insurrection), simply stated:
You play the game in real life.
And this seems to be the angle Paranoid are trying to push with Insurrection 2035. In addition to this, a pretty theatrical backstory has been created to provide something of a backdrop to the game itself. All the contextual information of the game is summed up in the video below, which is available on Insurrection's website.

Impressed? You have every right to be. Paranoid Games have clearly put a lot of effort into Insurrection, and the final product is going to be interesting. Price wise the game is free to download and play for thirty days, but a subscription fee of $1.99/month will have to be payed after your thirty day trial via a monthly in-app purchase. With a release date set for July 4th (Insurrection is currently awaiting App Store approval) I'm sure a lot of people are going to be active at least for thirty days. Whether the game warrants its preset subscription fee however remains to be seen. Keep your eyes peeled for Insurrection 2035 and check it out when it's released! In the meantime, here's the aforementioned interview with Sam, which will give you some more information about the game.
