Verizon: No Plans For iPhone "In Immediate Future"

Following a recent report stating that Verizon Wireless is currently testing the Apple iPad on its mobile network, a conflicting statement made by Verizon spokesman John Johnson reiterates that Verizon has "no plans to carry the iPhone in the immediate future".
This comes as a bitter disappointment to Verizon customers hoping to get their hands on the highly anticipated iPhone 4, along with current AT&T customers who were probably begging for their network to lose iPhone (and iPad) exclusivity.
AT&T's recent announcement regarding upcoming data network changes has caused outrage among current and prospective subscribers, who were possibly hoping to tether their iPhone in the upcoming months for a less-than-extortionate price. Of course, nobody can tell whether Verizon are being entirely honest - and it is inline with Apple's unofficial philosophy to not announce anything until near-release. So who knows? Maybe we'll all be able to find some solace with Verizon Wireless pretty soon - providing they don't match prices against AT&T, which sadly is a very real possibility.
