AroundMe Joins The Retina Display Club

July 28, 2010

AroundMe, the popular information-finding, location-based iPhone application, has just received an update that adds support for the Retina display. This is great news for iPhone 4 owners, as it means that AroundMe now fully utilizes the handset's capabilities. The app received an update which allowed for multitasking not so long ago (version 4.0), and this more recent improvement (version 4.0.1) now means that AroundMe is nothing short of perfect. If you're not familiar with developer Tweakersoft's app, then you should check it out in the App Store as soon as possible! AroundMe uses your iPhone's GPS to find the nearest points of interest, which are displayed in a list for the user's perusal (see below).

However, the fun doesn't stop there: once users have a list of nearby POIs, they then have the option of turning the iPhone on its side and entering augmented reality mode! Other additions to the app include "restored integration with the latest version of TomTom," along with Twitter xauth support and new statistics with an opt-out option. However, the best thing about this update is that AroundMe is still a free application - so you have no excuse not to check it out in the App Store now!
