Eliminate:GunRange Updated With 3G And 3GS Support, Bang!

July 24, 2010

Great news for all you gun-loving iPhone owners out there: the popular iPhone 4 firing range game, Eliminate:GunRange, is now compatible with iPhone 3G and 3GS handsets! The application was one of the first ever iPhone 4 games to utilize the handset's acclaimed super-sensitive gyroscope, which players use to control and aim whichever high-powered weapon they use on the range. It works like a dream, and also supports the handset's high resolution Retina display. For $0.99, it was definitely an app worth downloading. Now, a recent update (version 1.1) has made Eliminate:GunRange even more desirable, by expanding the app to include support for iPhone 3G and 3GS handsets. As these earlier models only feature a basic accelerometer, the app's developer (ngmoco, Inc) has stated that "touch aiming" will be implemented for 3G and 3GS players. In addition to this added support, ngmoco has also corrected several bug issues - one of which caused the screen to switch to black before players had a chance to enter the firing range. A screen rotation issue has also been corrected, meaning the game should now run without any problems. Personally, Eliminate:GunRange appealed to me because it was (and still is) an app perfectly suited to showing the iPhone 4 off. The gyroscope controls, the Retina display-optimized graphics - everything about the game is perfect, on an iPhone 4. Yet, whether this wow-factor is maintained on iPhone 3G and 3GS handsets remains to be seen. If you're an iPhone 3G or 3GS owner who's already managed to download Eliminate:GunRange for your handset, please let us know if you're impressed with the game in the comments box at the bottom of this article. And, if you don't yet own this brilliant, albeit iPhone 4-optimized app, then head over to the App Store and check it out now! Thanks to iSpazio for spotting this update.
