Popular geolocation and "check-in" software, foursquare, has just been updated to improve the app for iOS4 and the iPhone 4. It doesn't stop there, however, as the update to this universal app includes changes for all iDevices.
While foursquare has posted an iOS4 update previously and added backgrounding support, the app still needed some tweaking. According to foursquare, this version improves the data refreshing when the app is brought out of the background. It also fixes an issue where foursquare URL's were not opening properly in the background. While some graphics were updated in the previous version, this version adds even more high-resolution graphics for iPhone 4 users.
On all iDevices, users will see an overall tighter-looking interface. Users also gain the ability to send SMS and email without leaving the app. The map view gets a current-position indicator and also receives a bug fix so the map view will no longer crash if you have an empty friends list.
