Now You Can Give Foosball A Spin On Your iPhone Or iPod Touch
July 13, 2010
Turning the iPad into a mini foosball table apparently wasn't enough of a challenge for the team at Illusions Labs, because they have gone the extra mile and made their lifelike digital version of the game even smaller in Foosball for iPhone and iPod touch.
Foosball for iPhone is identical to its iPad counterpart, only much smaller. The game features single or multiplayer modes, amazing 3D graphics, true physics, realistic sound effects and three difficulty levels, a feature that was only recently added to Foosball HD. Foosball also features Retina display optimization for those who can take advantage of it.
In Foosball, players are controlled via a simple touch and drag mechanic that may take some getting used to, but feels natural after a while. Basically, touching and dragging a bar on your side of the table allows you to move it from side to side and spin the players. Well, spinning is frowned upon in the foosball world, so try to keep that at a minimum. The game also supports multi-touch, so you can control multiple bars at once.
Having played both versions of Foosball, I have to say the iPhone version isn't nearly as cramped as I imagined it would be. The player models are just the right size, and since Illusion Labs decided to include only three bars for each team, finding the ball during a frantic match is fairly easy.
Foosball is now available in the App Store for only $.99. This is Illusion Labs' most inexpensive game to date, but it's not short on entertainment.
