Following Apple's acquisition of Lala and the closing of its site, which happened way back on May 31st, a recent investigation by NPD seems to hint at a supermassive interest in an expected iTunes cloud service.
According to an article posted on 9to5Mac, a poll of 3,862 iTunes users (over the age of 13) revealed that 25% want an iTunes cloud service now - which adds up to 13-15 million users in the US alone!
In addition to this, NPD stated that 7-8 million iTunes users want the service so much, they'd be “willing to pay a minimum of $10/month to subscribe."
In turn, this means that Steve is probably seeing dollar signs when it comes to an iTunes cloud service. Realistically, I can see the company demanding a fee, especially when you consider that MobileMe still retains it's $99/year subscription charge.
As NPD states in its report, a $10/month subscription charge for the service turns iTunes cloud into a billion dollar market in its first year alone, which is phenomenal.
What do you think, would you like to see an iTunes cloud based service? What would you be willing to pay for it? Please tell us in the comments below.
