Following the recent change of stance regarding iPhone jailbreaking, potential jailbreakers may be interested in watching an interview with Jay Freeman: the father of Cydia.
In the interview (which takes place with Make It Work's Chief Technology Officer, Jeremy Anticouni), Jay Freeman discusses the history of jailbreaking, and explains how and why the process came about.
The interview (which comes in two videos, both of which are embedded below) is definitely worth a watch - especially if you're still unsure what jailbreaking is, and why so many iPhone owners choose to do it. Additionally, Jay also discusses some of his other projects - such as Cycorder, the first high speed (MJPEG) video recorder for the iPhone.
Personally, I found Jay's history of jailbreaking the most interesting aspect of the interview. I entered the iDevice-world with my purchase of an iPhone 3G - and didn't acquire a knowledge of jailbreaking up until several months later. Jay talks about jailbreaking the iPhone 2G, and about the development of Cydia. He also discusses the upcoming iPhone 4 jailbreak, which is becoming more and more of a concrete reality every day.
So, be sure to take a look at the interview videos (below). Please let us know what you think of the legendary Jay Freeman in the comments box at the bottom of this article!
