Motorola And Its Android-Army Still Sulking In iPhone's Shadow

July 30, 2010

You probably guessed it from the headline, but in case you're still puzzled: Motorola and its Droids are still miles behind the mighty Apple iPhones - which peaked at 8.4 million units in Q2 of 2010, according to a report by Apple Insider. Motorola's 8.3 million sales were good, but not good enough. And, what's more - out of this figure, a mere 2.7 million were smartphones, adding further imbalance to the playing field. Additionally, Motorola wasn't the only company to fall short of Apple in the second quarter of 2010. HTC, who manufactures Google's Nexus One, Spring EVO and the Droid Incredible, is expected to sell 4.5 million in Q2 following a disappointing 2.8 million sales in Q1. You can take a look at a graphical representation of this data below. It's obvious that Apple has achieved something great, in "stealing" the market from fellow competitors. The third quarter of 2010 is bound to show an increase in these already brilliant figures, as the iPhone 4 continues to take the world by storm and Steve's plan for world domination becomes more and more of a reality.
