One Of The Most Popular Mac Apps Makes It To The iPhone And iPad
July 21, 2010
Business people everywhere can now run a company from the palm of their hand. FileMaker Pro, the database software popular with Mac users, has finally brought its amazing functionality and design to the iDevice market with FileMaker Go.
As reported on AppShopper.com, FileMaker Go for iPhone and FileMaker Go for iPad were both released this week to the praise of FileMaker devotees. For those unfamiliar with FileMaker, think of it as the Mac answer to Microsoft Access. FileMaker is known, not only as a simple database program, but as one with superior looks and ease of use. Everyday users can easily create and design databases with FileMaker Pro, then take them on the road with the new FileMaker Go. FileMaker users can now search, view and edit their databases from the convenience of their iPhone or iPad.
FileMaker Go accesses databases over the network that resides on a FileMaker Server or on a desktop or laptop running FileMaker Pro. As with many databases, this allows multiple users to use the same database at the same time. This works perfectly for companies who use FileMaker for their inventory, as their employees can take an iPad to the warehouse and update inventory from there. Salesmen can check inventory and enter invoices while on the sales floor with customers instead of leaving the customer's side to check something on a computer. The app's creators made a video to show off some of the features of FileMaker Go, which you can see below:
While FileMaker Go is not cheap, this app is for people who have already spent at least $299 on FileMaker Pro software. FileMaker Go for iPhone ($19.99) and FileMaker Pro for iPad ($39.99) are both available now in the App Store.
