Print Directly From Your iPhone Or iPad For Only $99
July 2, 2010
The capabilities of Apple's iDevices have been expanding. Document viewing and editing have become more common, bringing a growing need for printing capability. Luckily, HP is now offering a simple, inexpensive solution that will do just that.
A few weeks ago, HP debuted a new feature for their all-in-one printers called ePrint. Most future all-in-one devices from HP will ship with ePrint. ePrint includes wireless and wired network connectivity as well as an array of internet-connected features. Higher-end printers with touchscreen controls will also be able to access websites like Fandango directly, enabling a user to order and print movie tickets. Less expensive devices will still have internet access and one very important feature; print by email.
Each printer gets a unique email address that the printer monitors for incoming messages. All you have to do is email your printer an image, document, PDF, web page or other supported file and it will print it automatically. No print drivers or setup required. This means instead of trying to sync your documents back to your computer, or emailing them to yourself to print later, you can just send them directly to your printer. Since a good portion of iOS apps allow saving and sharing via email, you can now literally print straight from thousands of apps.
The best part? This feature will appear on all HP all-in-one printers with a suggested retail price of $99 or higher. In fact, you can order the HP Photosmart D110a from HP.com right now for only $99 with free shipping. If you've invested $499 or more in an iPad, $99 seems to be a very reasonable price to add easy printing capability to it.
