System Activity Monitor Receives Update, Stops Crashing When Returning From Background

July 10, 2010

Good news for those of you who enjoy knowing the ins and outs of your iOS 4-running iPhone - System Activity Monitor ($2.99), an app that tells you everything that's happening under your phone's hood, has just received an update that fixes a crashing issue many were encountering when returning to the application from the background. The bug, which had resulted in the popular application gaining a great many one-star reviews, caused the application to completely crash when bringing the app to the front from the multi-task bar. But now, thanks to a recently approved update (1.2.1), System Activity Monitor is back to full working strength.

The application allows users to track all system activity on their iPhone. Currently, it's compatible with iOS 3.1 and higher - though the bug only affected iOS 4 users who were attempting to multitask. The app is also available in an iPad version ($5.99), which obviously wasn't affected by the crashing bug. Here's a list of what you can view in System Activity Monitor:
  • Runtime (RAM) memory usage.
  • Storage (disk) usage.
  • All running processes.
  • CPU usage.
  • Wi-Fi IP address.
  • Device information.
So be sure to check out the application in the App Store now, and let us know how it works for you in the comments box below!
