A Chance To Win A The Apostrophe Song Promo Code With A Retweet Or Comment

August 22, 2010
AppAdvice has teamed up with Cool Rules in order to offer you a chance to win one of five (5) promo codes for The Apostrophe Song for iPhone and iPod touch ($.99). Cool Rules brings a neat app to the iPhone and iPod touch that focuses on teaching one of the sometimes more confusing written English components. The Apostrophe Song is a fairly unique teaching tool to help people of any age learn the proper use of the apostrophe. The app makes use of all of the key elements of learning: visual, audible, and practice. Not only that, but it performs these lessons and provides the information in a repetitious manner. Given the name of the app, you would have probably guessed there's some sort of music involved. "The Apostrophe Song" is a catchy and informative tune that's provided in a handful of musical genres. Whether your favorite is pop, rock, hip hop, or acoustic, you'll be able to follow along with lyrics. That covers one audible and visual method, but what about putting it to use and practicing using it properly? The exercise portion of the app offers two variations in a brief but effective game. The standard method has you complete twenty questions, and is strictly about accuracy of choosing which of the four choices uses the apostrophe(s) correctly. The second iteration of the game is to compete against the clock, challenging you to get as many correct answers as possible within sixty seconds. If you happen to get the answer wrong, you'll see an indicator appear of which one of the eleven "Cool Rules" of apostrophes you've managed not to follow properly. You can view these rules separately and at any time, which is a nice reference tool. As a reminder, be sure to watch the bottom of the screen during a question to catch the note of when the examples involve plural nouns. It caught me off guard a few times. It is promoted within the app, but I'll still make a direct mention of it here. Teachers or other school faculty should check out a contest related to the app, the Cool Rules Schools’ Challenge.
Record your own version of The Apostrophe Song and we will add it to the Cool Rules Song Library. Every 3 months we will select one recording and add it to The Apostrophe Song iPhone App.
