Dev-Team: No Jailbreak For iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2

As many of you will already know, JailbreakMe.com - the site that promised to easily jailbreak every device over the air - has had its means of jailbreaking closed by Apple in the ensuing iOS 4.0.2 (iPhone) and iOS 3.2.2 (iPad) software updates. Which means that if you accidentally updated your iDevice to iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2, or have a new iPhone or iPad that has shipped with this firmware, then the jailbreaking door is closed to you - for now.
Speaking from its blog, the Dev-Team stated that "no, there won't be" a jailbreak for either of these iOS updates. They were only released in order to kill the jailbreak, and releasing a tool for iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2 users would only result in Apple closing the jailbreaking door again in their upcoming iOS 4.1 update.
Quoting WOPR, the Dev-Team explained that "the only winning move is not to play." So, if you were expecting a jailbreak for iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2, then don't - because it's not coming.
Yet, this sacrifice does mean that we'll all be able to benefit from a future iOS 4.1 jailbreak, which will presumably hit the web once the update has been released (this Wednesday, perhaps?). Once this happens, iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2 users will hopefully be able to jailbreak after updating their handset's operating system through iTunes.
So worry not, sit tight, and look forward to iOS 4.1. And, if you've got an opinion regarding this never ending game of "cat and mouse", let us know in the comments box at the bottom of this article!
