eBay's Half.com Gets Its Own iPhone App, Great For Finding Cheap Textbooks And More

August 16, 2010
The new Half.com app by eBay Inc lets users find some of the best deals on books, music, movies, and video games. With access to 80 million active listings from more than 700,000 sellers, the Half.com app provides a lot of possibilities for students and parents to save a ton of dough as the new school year approaches. Half.com's main focus is on books, primarily textbooks. You can find materials using the typical keyword search, or just use the integrated barcode scanner.  Items are offered in various conditions, giving those on a tight budget an even bigger possible savings, as long as they're willing to get something that isn't in perfect condition. Choose amongst products being offered in brand new, like new, very good, good, and acceptable conditions on an easy to read list that includes a couple of prices for comparison. If you come across a spectacular deal you can share it with others using a few quick taps via Twitter or Facebook. If it isn't obvious by now, eBay is looking to generate sales through all of their venues using all means available. While eBay owned companies and services are primarily web site based, it seems very apparent the company is striving to make it even easier for users of mobile devices to peruse and spend some hard earned cash. A worthy note is, at least this iteration of, the app isn't geared towards those looking to sell products on the discount site. Half.com is available for free in the App Store now and designed for iPhone and iPod touch, which adds to an already large handful of free eBay apps for finding deals on anything from odd knickknack to homes.
