Do You Look Gangsta? Nah, iLookGangsta
August 25, 2010
Have you ever felt you didn't look gangsta enough? If that has ever crossed your mind, now you can resolve that aching problem. Riptide Games' latest app, iLookGangsta, gives you the chance to bling yourself.
iLookGangsta isn't like the morphing apps that exist in the App Store; where you take a photo, tell the app where your chin, mouth, eyes, etc are located, then let it morph the image into something. iLookGangsta is more like a Mr. Potato Head. You take a photo of yourself or friend, and then add some cartoon-ish gangsta sportin' elements. You can add different types of facial hair, hats, caps, earrings, over-sized necklaces, sunglasses, and plenty more.
To add an item, simply drag it from the gallery list. Applying these objects can get a bit tricky. You can use the normal pinch and un-pinch to make the item larger or smaller, and then use a two finger twist motion to turn it. The items don't always fit perfectly though, and you may find yourself just unable to use some with the current photo you've taken. Another thing to think about is layers. Items layer from bottom to top. If you want the hat to cover the sunglasses, you'll need to grab the sunglasses first, then the hat.
Once you've finished putting the new and more gangsta you together, tap the share button in the top right to save the image to your Camera Roll, post it on your Facebook wall, or just email it to show off your new found connection to the streets. The settings pane allows you to login to your Facebook account, and the option to enable or disable the small watermark that appears at the bottom of shared images.
If you're looking to satisfy some other outside appearance problems, Riptide offers iLookFunny and iLookGood as well. Riptide isn't just about making you look good or goofy, the company is also the creator of the puzzle game Gravity Sling Deluxe.
For those of you who are penny pinchers, Riptide has ad-supported versions: iLookGangsta Free and iLookGood Free. A person can even pick up a trimmed down version of Gravity Sling for absolutely free.
All and all, it's a fun app, and the option to try it along with the rest of Riptide's apps for free makes it almost a no-brainer if you're a fan of these kinds of apps.
