Hotmail Users To Get Exchange ActiveSync - Will Push Hotmail To Your iPhone

August 27, 2010
Great news, Hotmail users: according to a recent report by CNET, the popular email service will receive support for Exchange ActiveSync next Monday - meaning iPhone owners will be able to configure push notifications for their Hotmail accounts. And, don't forget - even if you've already got one ActiveSync account configured, on an iPhone 4, you can configure two! Which means you won't lose push notifications for your existing Exchange account when you add a second. There are only a handful of phones that support duel ActiveSync accounts. These include the Palm Pre, iPhone 4, and upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices. Currently, iPhone owners can configure email push notifications for MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, and Gmail accounts. Though, as many of you will know, only MobileMe has a near perfect track record. I attempted to use Yahoo! way back when iOS 3.0 was released, and it failed me. Currently, I've got push working with my Gmail account using these settings. However, Google Mobile App users can also configure push for Gmail through the application itself. Hotmail fans will undoubtably be pleased to hear that their beloved service is finally receiving ActiveSync support. And, with Monday being only a weekend away, there isn't long to wait until Hotmail and ActiveSync can work together on your iPhone handset.
