Jailbreak Only: SnapTap Updated - Compatible With iPhone 4 And iOS 4

August 26, 2010
Great news, jailbreakers! The popular tweak, SnapTap, has recently been updated and is now compatible with iPhone 4 handsets, and the iOS 4 operating system. This is especially beneficial for iPhone 4 owners, who most probably use their handset as a digital camera more often than owners of previous iPhones. I know that personally, I'm way more likely to snap a picture on my iPhone now my handset's sporting a cool 5MP camera. And, that's not all - with the 720p HD camcorder, I'm once again taking videos on my mobile phone (something I haven't done since I owned a Samsung Tocco, way back in the Stone Age). If you're not familiar with the tweak, here's a quick run through: SnapTap (available in Cydia) allows jailbroken iPhone users to take pictures and shoot video using their handset's camera simply by pressing one of the volume buttons. We're all familiar with the touch-button issues when attempting to use the Camera app: I'm forever missing it, or knocking the handset and blurring the image when I try to take a photo. And, don't even get me started on the trauma of trying to take a photo of oneself - it's quite simply impossible. However, SnapTap turns the iPhone into more of a legitimate digital camera. Indeed, taking photos on the handset after installing the tweak is quite simply a dream. Yet sadly, this dream does come at a price.

Jailbroken iPhone users wishing to add the SnapTap tweak to their device will have to purchase the app for $1.49, as it's currently not offered for free. Yet, if you're the kind of app-fan who'll happily pay for a quality application / tweak, then you'll be glad to know that SnapTap is worth the cash. It's available in the BigBoss repository, so a simple search in Cydia should locate the package for you. Thanks to iSpazio (Google Translate) for spotting this update.
