The 7" iPad rumors we've already heard so much about sure aren't grinding to a halt. In fact, today has brought yet another whisper-on-the-wind, with Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News (Google Translate) reporting that Apple plans to launch a 7" second generation iPad. Reportedly the new model will weigh a mere 500 grams (as opposed to the original 700g).
According to the report, originally spotted by AppleInsider, the new 7" iPad will also take advantage of "an in-plane switching LCD display for wide viewing angles."
Additionally, Economic News Daily states that Foxconn might not be the only second-gen iPad hardware manufacturer, with Pegatron or Compal joining the team.
As of this moment, nothing at all has been confirmed - so don't go believing these rumors and putting aside cash for a second-gen iPad. Instead, it's something worth looking out for. And, I guess until we discover the truth, we can all contemplate whether a 7" iPad would actually be more desirable than the 9.7" devices we're already used to.
Personally, I'm not so sure. What about you?
