Osmos Will Be Absorbing iPhone And iPod Touch Gamers Soon
August 1, 2010
Osmos, the enchanting mote absorbing iPad game, is headed to the iPhone and iPod touch, which will finally allow all of you small screen gamers out there to join in on the fun. We also have a new gameplay trailer embedded below, proving that the game's free-floating worlds do indeed fit nicely in the palm of your hand.
Osmos is a game of balance, patience, and beauty. In the game you control a single mote with the goal of becoming the largest of them all by absorbing smaller surrounding ones. The challenge, however, is that you can't touch larger motes, otherwise you will be absorbed into them; and the only way to avoid them is to propel yourself by expelling your own matter, which in turn makes you even smaller. This is where your patience will be put to the test.
The iPad version of Osmos is one of the most engrossing and highly-rated games to hit the App Store in the last month. It features multitouch, two game modes, 72 levels, eight level types, four distinct opponents, an ambient electronic soundtrack, and OpenFeint integration. Osmos for iPad is actually a port of the PC, Mac, and Linux game by the same name, so you know the team at Hemisphere Games is fully capable of successfully porting it once again to the iPhone and iPod touch.
According to the developers, Osmos for iPhone and iPod touch will contain all of the familiar features from the iPad version of the game, including multitouch. It will also feature Retina display support for those iPhone 4 owners out there, and iOS 4 support.
Osmos for iPhone will be hitting the App Store on August 5th for $2.99, a full $2 less than its iPad counterpart. This is definitely not one to miss.
