You Can Now Poynt Your Way To Nearby Gas Stations And Low Gas Prices
August 3, 2010
The latest version of the popular and once BlackBerry-only local search app, Poynt, finally features a search function for nearby gas stations or those with the lowest price.
Poynt hasn't changed all too much since its debut for the iPhone back in March, but that's likely because it was so well polished prior to moving to the iOS platform. Those previous smartphone loving businessmen and women touting their RIM BlackBerry devices will no doubt have fond recollections of Multiplied Media's free local search application.
The initial iPhone release allowed you to easily find local businesses, movie theaters, people, and restaurants. Poynt v1.2.1 added local current weather and forecast information, while the latest Poynt v1.3 adds the ability to search for nearby gas stations, lowest gas prices, save your favorite theaters, and general improvements to iOS 4 compatibility.
Searching for nearby gas stations displays a list of nearest to furthest to your current location. Each entry provides a quick view of the last time the prices were updated, station name, station address, lowest price of all gasoline types listed, and distance from you. Searching by best price lets you choose the fuel type and distance (radius) from your current location with the results listed from cheapest to most expensive. Tapping an entry will display all reported gas prices, the station's telephone, and the services they provide.
For those BlackBerry veterans, are you thrilled to see this feature finally arrive on your iDevice?
