Great news, star spotters! The popular astronomy observation application, Star Walk (available for iPhone and iPad), has recently received an update (4.4) that brings users a new level of augmented reality.
Now, would-be astronomers can select exactly what they'd like to check out in the night sky, and Star Walk will point them toward that constellation - along with telling users exactly which stars are shining in real-time!
The feature is called "Star Spotter," and it's obviously only available for iDevices with a built-in digital compass (iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4). Augmented reality is great when utilized properly - which is exactly what the latest version of Star Walk does.
Other updates in the new version include a Quick Help section, which launches when a user opens the app; improved interaction with social networks; and some minor bug fixes.
So, if you're a star spotter who enjoys launching Star Walk every now and again, be sure to check out the app's most recent update which is available now through the App Store. And, if you haven't yet encountered Star Walk, you can find out more about it here - or check it out in iTunes!
