Apple Announces New Touchscreen iPod Nano

September 1, 2010
At today's fall Apple announcement, the most innovative and interesting iPod nano ever created was demoed. The New iPod nano is 46% smaller and 42% lighter than its predecessor, making it close to the size of a saltine cracker. The device has a multitouch interface just like on the iPhone and iPad. Also, like its predecessor, it features Nike+ integration, FM radio and iPod-only features like VoiceOver which can read back song titles and other information.

The tiny touchscreen iPod will have 24 hours of music playback on a battery charge and a built-in clip for attaching it to clothing. For those who do clip it on, you can rotate the display by simply using two fingers, making it usable from any direction. At a price of $149 for the 8GB and $179 for the 16GB, the iPod nano will be available next week. It will be available for pre-order on Apple.com later today. With multitouch coming to the iPod nano, we can only dream of how far Apple's multitouch will take us. What do you think? Is more multitouch a good thing? Will you consider buying a new iPod nano?
