New FaceTime Commercials Hit Europe

New FaceTime Commercials Hit Europe

September 28, 2010
I live in the UK, and I have to say: Apple is really pushing iPhone 4 advertising over here. I'm forever switching on the TV and seeing some individual chatting on an iPhone handset. Interestingly, the common factor is FaceTime: Apple's iPhone to iPhone video calling service. Currently, only iPhone 4 handsets can FaceTime call one another. And, according to Apple, that's exactly why you should get yourself the company's latest handset. Usually Apple's FaceTime ads involve a couple of people chatting through their iPhones. However, a touching situation (and some heartwarming background music) often accompany the call, making it extra special. Frequently, a FaceTime ad makes you go, awww, even if you really don't want to. Unsurprisingly, Apple's latest FaceTime ads are no exception. We've embedded them below for your viewing pleasure. As MacStories reports, they're airing all across Europe (UK and Spain included).

So, what do you think? Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the ads. Often, I just feel sorry for the poor soul that has to make do with a FaceTime call instead of the real thing (whatever the "real thing" may be). But, the ads do highlight the use of Apple's video calling service. And, they do get the word out there. If FaceTime is ever going to expand to iChat, Windows PCs, or even other smartphones, then people need to know about it. If these ads brought a tear to your eye, tell us why in the comments below!
