What Would Happen If AT&T Lost iPhone Exclusivity?

September 21, 2010
If you were wondering exactly what would happen if AT&T lost iPhone exclusivity in the US, then look no further - because Credit Suisse has the answer. As Business Insider reports, Credit Suisse's survey predicts that Verizon could snatch up 23% of AT&T's iPhone market if the carrier lost iPhone exclusivity. AT&T would retain at least 63% of their iPhone customers, 3% stated that they'd leave AT&T for Sprint, 2% would opt for T-Mobile and 9% were unsure. There have been rumors of a Verizon iPhone for some time now. First, we heard that a Verizon iPhone 4 was out of the picture. Then we heard Verizon's plans to carry the iPhone weren't non-existent, but just postponed - until January 2011. Honestly, we're not sure what to believe. Obviously, customers would love to be able to choose between a variety of carriers - even if the choice came down to cell coverage alone. But, whether such a choice will ever come about is still as much a mystery as it ever was. So, what do you think? Is Credit Suisse's survey an accurate representation of what would happen if AT&T lost exclusivity? Let us know in the comments below!
