iOS 4.2 Beta 2 Adds Tethering Settings For iPad

September 30, 2010
Great news, iPad owners: the second beta version of Apple's upcoming iOS 4.2 software update brings a pretty cool surprise. The update, which is scheduled for a November release, adds Internet Tethering settings for iPads running iOS. As you can see from the above screenshot, iPad owners will hopefully be able to tether their iDevice successfully by the time iOS 4.2 reaches its final version. According to 9to5Mac, the settings are currently only appearing for European carriers. It would be great if Apple allows iOS 4.2 users to tether their iPad iPhone-style. iPhone tethering doesn't always work well for me, but it sure is handy having the option, just in case you find yourself outside of a Wi-Fi network while on the go. However, don't get too excited. These tethering settings may just be removed in a future beta version (remember Game Center on the iPhone 3G? It can happen). [Image credit: 9to5Mac]
