Steve Jobs: White iPhone Could Hit Stores This Christmas, Update - FALSE

September 19, 2010
Hoping for a white Christmas, guys? According to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, this might just be the case. And, I'm not talking about snow, either. I'm talking about the elusive white iPhone 4! We all know the chronicles of the white iPhone. Many of us were looking forward to making FaceTime calls on a pearly white handset. However, the device was delayed again and again, leaving many disappointed. Yet now, there may be some white light at the end of the tunnel. According to an email sent from none other than big Steve himself, Apple's white iPhone might be hitting stores just in time for Christmas. However, in usual Steve fashion, the email reply is void of detail. As MacStories reports, here's the email Apple fan Nathan sent Steve:
Hello Steve, My name is Nathan, I’m a high school student from San Bernardino. I also happen to be one of your biggest fan and a total Apple fanboy and proud to be. I’ve been saving up money to buy the new iphone 4. I want the white one but Apple said it won’t be available until later this year. I know you must be asked this question hundreds of times a day but do you think we can expect to get the white iphone for xmas? I hope you can answer. Thank you Steve.
And, Steve's nonchalant reply:
Christmas is later this year.
That’s right guys, Christmas is later this year. And, it could be a very interesting Christmas for the guys over at Cupertino. Of course, by “interesting,” I actually mean “profitable.” Even with a great many iPhone fans having given up dreams of owning a white handset, instead settling for the black, I’m guessing there’s still enough left to hit Apple stores hard as soon as the device is released. Not so long ago, it seemed as though the white iPhone was rapidly becoming an impossibility. Rumors hit the web surrounding "backlight leakage," and it seemed as if the model we got our hands on at WWDC would be the first, and last. However, if Steve's email is anything to go by, it seems as though this is no longer the case. Obviously, there's no valid proof Apple's even considering a Christmas launch for the white handset. In fact, there's no proof they've managed to fix whatever issue had previously held up the phone's launch. But, like I said: it's a glimmer of hope for those of you holding out for a white iPhone 4. Though, if Apple takes much longer, it might have to be a white iPhone 5. UPDATE: Sadly, Steve's email was in fact a fake. You can check out the details at iPhoneDownloadBlog.
