Let AT&T Help You Cast Your Ballot With Their New VoterHub App

October 19, 2010
AT&T has teamed up with Politics-360 to provide a tool with all of your basic voting needs, hoping to do their part to increase voter turnout. VoterHub provides voter registration, means to finding a polling location, voting related forms, election calendar, and active candidates. Unfortunately, this app comes a bit too late to register, as most voter registration deadlines were early to mid last month. However, if you are unsure but want to double-check, the deadline and election day are available in the Election Calendar section. If you're located in a region that allows early voting via postal mail, VoterHub can give you direct links to the forms and information required to make that happen. The Vote Early/Vote By Mail section also includes more detailed information on registration deadlines, voter qualifications, and absentee ballot instructions for your area. Candidate information for each branch is provided, however, it's only generalized resume-style details. It would be nice to get a link to an official website for each, if available. I'm guessing that AT&T and Politics-360 are attempting to stay as political party neutral as possible. What's likely the most useful portion of the app is the polling location finder. This was my toughest task to complete, outside of actually voting, the first time that I embarked in the process. It can get confusing for some, having each area divided into districts. There are two ways to get started: county or zip. Either method will require your street address information, including county, but just in a different order. After providing your residence location, you're provided with a slew of information. You get everything from when to vote, what address(es) to vote at for your district, a good handful of general district details, a printable sample ballot, and mapping directions via Google, Windows Live, Yahoo! Local, or Bing Maps. VoterHub is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.1 or later, and available as a free download in the App Store. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
