Grooveshark For iPhone Updated, Available Once Again In Cydia

October 18, 2010
Grooveshark is a popular iPhone app that offers music streaming on-the-go for $3/month. After waiting to be approved by Apple for several months last year, the app's developers decided to cut to the chase, and make Grooveshark available through Cydia; the jailbreak application store. Following this, Apple eventually approved the app, only for it to be removed due to a complaint from Universal Music Group UK. Once again, Grooveshark headed over to Cydia where it remains to this day. However, things aren't too bad. Even though Grooveshark has yet to regain entrance into Apple's hallowed App Store, the application itself has undergone something of a makeover. As TechCrunch reports, the new 2.0 version of Grooveshark is Retina-optimized for the iPhone 4, meaning it looks super crisp and clear. Personally, I love the Retina display; it's always pleasing to hear of an app becoming "Retina-optimized." In addition to this, Grooveshark now also includes support for multitasking (iPhone 3GS / 4, iOS 4 only), meaning users can listen to music while the app is running in the background. A variety of other minor changes have also been made to the application, including the ability to save radio sessions, and a new search system. Lucky for us, Grooveshark's subscription charge remains the same. So, if you're sporting a jailbroken iPhone, why not take a look at Grooveshark? For $3/month, it's undoubtedly worth the cash, especially following this recent upgrade.
