iPhone And iPad Apps Gone Free: Labyrinth Game, Crazy Skeleton, Pocket Piano HD, And More

October 10, 2010
As before, I'm just the temporary replacement. Today we have a version of the favorite classic of Labyrinth, a way for you to make your mark while treasure hunting, an off-road vehicle instrument utility, something to accessorize this year's Halloween costume, an app to fit your piano in your backpack, and give your iPad that basic built-in Apple calculator app it has been lacking. Disclaimer: All prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. iPhone: Labyrinth Game ($.99 -> Free): The classic game where you need to tilt your iDevice to maneuver a ball around a maze of walls and holes to reach the end. Includes 50 increasingly difficult levels, a light or heavy ball choice, and OpenFeint integration that includes a leaderboard and achievements. Labyrinth Game is available for free today only (10/10). It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 76 ratings. Scurvy Diver ($.99 -> Free): Swim your way to buried treasure, and collect enough gold to complete a level. You'll need to fight your way through crabs, sharks, squids, zombie fish and more. Watch out for the killer whale, one chomp and it's a permanent sea-grave for you. Three difficulty levels: cabin girl, mate, and captain, which you can level-up and upgrade. In game achievements and bonuses. Scurvy Diver is available for free for the next two days (10/10-10/11). It has a four-star rating, and a total of 7 ratings. Crazy Skeleton ($1.99 -> Free): Look no further to accessorize your Halloween costume, or just have a little fun. Crazy Skeleton is really crazy. Shake him around to make his eyes bounce around in his skull, poke his eyes around, and swipe your finger up and down to make his mouth move -- a nice little ventriloquist puppet. Shake him hard enough to activate one of 18 random animations and sayings. Crazy Skeleton is available for free for a limited time. It has a three-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 445 ratings. 4x4 Gyroscope Clinometer ($.99 -> Free): Use your iPhone 4 or 4th generation iPod touch's gyroscope to accurately measure the incline and roil of your vehicle. Use it as just another instrument, or even as a safety reference. Generalized, but the red indicators provide a warning that your vehicle is nearing the possible rollover threshold. Tap the reset button after mounting to calibrate. 4x4 Gyroscope Clinometer is available for free for a limited time. It has a four-and-a-half-star rating, and a total of 7 ratings. iPad: Calculator 4 - iPad Edition ($.99 -> Free): Get the same great basic and scientific calculator you've become accustomed to having available on your iPhone and iPod touch, on your iPad. Works in both the same portrait and landscape modes as the built-in Apple variant, with the same features and layout. Calculator 4 - iPad Edition is available for free until 10/14. It has a four-star rating, and a total of 16 ratings. Pocket Piano HD ($.99 -> Free): Turn your iPad into a mobile piano. Featuring single or dual rows, an adjustable metronome, navigation bar color choices, key size settings, and note labels. Full multi-touch support and all 88 keys allow you to play with nearly the same potency of a full-sized instrument. Slide the navigation bars left or right to adjust which keys are available on screen at any given time. Pocket Piano HD is available for free this weekend. It has a three-star rating, and a total of 18 ratings. Developers: If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
  • The app must be free for at least one whole day.
  • It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
  • The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
