Listening To Voicemails Is Eliminated With Yap App

October 5, 2010
If you're like me, you may think listening to voicemail is annoying, and takes up too much time each day. On my iPhone, I find listening to voicemail requires me to push too many buttons. Now, thanks to a new (and free) app from Yap, listening to voicemail can be a thing of the past. The Yap Voicemail app eliminates the need to ever listen to voicemail messages again. Plus, the setup of the service is so simple and quick, you'll be amazed and you won't believe the service is free.

When you launch the app for the first time, you are asked to create a new Yap account by entering your iPhone's telephone number. Once this is complete, a Yap voicemail contact is automatically added to your iPhone’s contact list. This contact is important and without it, the Yap service will not work. To enable the Yap Voicemail service, you need to click on the “enable” line on the Yap contact page. Don’t worry: the app itself tells you how to do this and the entire process took me about 20 seconds. Once you complete this step, the Yap Voicemail service is ready to go!

When somebody calls you, your normal voicemail greeting is replaced by a soft-spoken female voice from Yap asking your caller to leave a message. Since some of your regular callers may be used to hearing your voice, this might confuse some into believing that they reached the wrong number. You might want to tell them about the new Yap service. Within seconds, your message is transformed into a text message and a popup box alerts you that a new message is waiting for you. From there, you can read the message from within the Yap Voicemail app. If you still want to listen to your voicemail, you can do so from within the app itself. I tried this service three times just to see if my entire message was converted to text properly. In each case, it was. Word for word, the voicemail message was correct. If you ever want to discontinue the Yap service, you simply delete the app from your iPhone and delete the Yap voicemail contact from your list. However, I will find it hard to ever listen to voicemail again. The app is staying on my iPhone forever. The Yap Voicemail app is free and available today in the App Store. It is supported by ads that occasionally show up within it. These ads were minimal and did not take away from the app itself. I suggest you download this app and begin using it today.
