Omni Group Plans To Publish Applications In Mac App Store

Great news, Mac fans, the Omni Group, which has previously brought iDevice owners apps such as: OmniFocus (iPhone, iPad), OmniGraffle, and OmniGraphSketcher, recently announced that it plans to publish applications in Apple's upcoming Mac App Store. Speaking from the company's blog, the Omni Group's Ken Case stated:

I think the Mac App Store is going to be a huge boon for Mac consumer software, and we're looking forward to publishing the same suite of Omni Group apps on the Mac App Store that we've been busy bringing to the iPad App Store: OmniFocus, OmniGraffle, OmniGraphSketcher, OmniOutliner, and OmniPlan. The Mac App Store will be a much, much better app buying experience than any option consumers currently have: you'll be able to experiment with buying software from developers you don't know without worrying about whether they will be careful with your billing information, or whether they might even be shipping you malware.

And, I think Case is right. Currently, the Mac app landscape is pretty bleak: Windows users frequently can find the program they're looking for, yet Mac applications somehow seem stuck in the shadows. The App Store has been, and continues to be, a phenomenal success. It's hasn't just changed the way the public interacts with mobile applications; it has pretty much established it. If the Mac App Store can be even half as good as the App Store, we're all undoubtedly in for a treat. In similar news, Firemint recently announced that it'll be sending Flight Control HD over to the Mac App Store, presumably in time for its premiere. Personally, I can see a lot of iOS developers following suit: the Mac App Store could be another goldmine, ready and waiting for developers to stumble across. What do you think?
