Super Twario Turns Your Twitter Feed Into A Platfomer
October 22, 2010
Feeling detached from the social networking world that is Twitter? Maybe it's time to try a more interactive way of viewing and replying to tweets? Head First Communications believes they have just what you need to get back into tweeting until your thumbs hurt, and it comes in the form of a 2D platformer called Super Twario.
Super Twario, as the name alludes, is a 2D platform game that doubles as a Twitter client. In the game you control a bunny named Twario, who is able to explore a world made up of horizontal platforms that are actually tweets from users in your feed.
You are able to make Twario run towards platforms by simply tilting your device, and jump by tapping on an empty portion of the screen. Tapping on a platform, or tweet, will give you a full view of the message and allow you to reply, retweet, or interact with the content such as follow links. Jumping on a platform and hitting the block above a tweet will allow you to reply directly to that person, or you can just tweet anything you want.
Since this is a game as well, you are able to accumulate points not only by visiting the world but also by tweeting. For example, by sending a tweet you will earn two points, while getting one of your messages retweeted will net you a total of 25 points. You can also view how you compare with other players via the Game Center leaderboards, and even earn achievements for your actions.
All in all, Super Twario is a rather neat concept, but it is still a little rough around the edges and will not be able to replace your current Twitter client entirely, or at least not yet. And, as a game, it lacks depth. It would be nice to see other objects to interact with, such as enemies to pounce on or items to collect, in order to keep you in the app for longer than a few moments. Hopefully the developers are in this for the long haul, because Super Twario has some potential.
Super Twario is available in the App Store for $1.99.
